Organisers are delivering a slightly different event this year. Kim Waters, Chief Executive explains. “We want to keep AFF21 fresh and relevant, to deliver amazing experiences for both our producers and visitors, to bring people together in different ways. We’re keeping it simple by strictly limiting attendance and re-organising the venues to ensure the weekend is safe and enjoyable for everyone. This means all stroller ticket/wristbands and individual event tickets will be pre-sold.”

“The huge food community that makes up the Festival really does need support after such a tough time. The team is working really hard to add more value, broadening the scope of the weekend to cover all eventualities.”

    Where to Buy Stroller Tickets

Wristbands cost £10 (free entry for children 16 and under) for one day (buy two tickets for both days) and you can bag yours online from 1 June or in person at EH Accountancy, 1 Horsingtons Yard, Abergavenny, NP7 5PN – 09:30 to 14:00, Mon – Fri. These will be non-refundable, because of all the extras in the mix. There’s also a substantial free AFF Magazine, stuffed with recipes, topical features, survival and innovation stories and anecdotes aplenty, which will be hitting door-mats mid-August, along with tickets.

    Meet Culinary Bright Lights

As the programme is temporarily streamlined, there will be more very special guest performers to engage with via a stroller ticket on the dem stages. Organisers are delighted to confirm Matt Tebbutt and Olly Smith (BBC Saturday Kitchen), Chetna Makhan (Youtube channel: Food with Chetna), Chris Harrod (The Whitebrook Michelin-star Restaurant, Monmouth), Jane Baxter (cook, writer and co-proprietor of the Wild Artichokes Kitchen, Kingsbridge), Vanessa Kimbell (Sourdough School, Northampton) and Poppy O’Toole (‘Poppy Cooks’ to published by Bloomsbury in September), plus popular Barry-based Hang Fire girls, Sam and Shauna, trailblazers of the ‘slow ’n’ low’ BBQ revolution. What will they be doing? Full details will be revealed shortly.

If the Festival has to pivot by running these and other special events online, then the stroller ticket will give direct access. More names to be announced over the coming weeks.

    A Grand Foodie Raffle

A bi-monthly grand foodie raffle will kick off in June. Anyone buying a stroller ticket has their number dropped in the pot. Strike lucky, win once – maybe even twice! The prizes are yummy – signed food books, hampers heaving with goodies, restaurant meals, getaway breaks, and courses too. More contributor information to be shared soon.

Party at The Castle and Drinks Theatre are individually ticketed events and not part of the stroller ticket experience. The wonderfully atmospheric Party at The Castle will take place, as usual, on the Saturday (18th) with live bands and great eats. Tickets cost £20. Limited availability and no walk up on the day. The Festival team recommends getting in quick as it’s always a sell-out. Drinks Theatre events start with ‘Cocktails’ on Friday (17th) with four more featuring other beverages on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost between £8 and £12. Party and Drinks Theatre tickets will be refunded, subject to cancellation.
