Fundraising initiative Crowdfund Swansea has launched a new drive that will see community-led ideas help the city become more vibrant, resilient and connected.
It’s led by Swansea Council working in partnership with Spacehive, the UK’s leading civic crowdfunding platform.
Crowdfund Swansea gives local residents with an idea to improve their community the chance to secure financial support through Spacehive’s online platform.
The council has allocated £55,000 to the Swansea programme for the next year – with donations of up to £5,000 available for individual projects.
The council and Spacehive invite those with ideas to attend free-entry crowdfunding workshops this month; these will discuss project ideas and offer advice and guidance from Spacehive experts.
They’re due to take place online on July 6 and 15.
Leonie Ramondt, project creator of a crowdfunded project that brought a community bike shelter and shared ebikes to Mount Pleasant, said: “Crowdfund Swansea has been a brilliant springboard for turning our small idea into a project that has won wide community and business support.”
Andrew Stevens, the council’s cabinet member for business improvement and performance, said: “We’re excited to launch this Crowdfund Swansea funding round with Spacehive; I can’t wait to see the range of ideas that residents put forward.”
