Staycations are once again a huge trend in 2021 as a result of the pandemic and this is allowing people to see the great beauty found at home (these trips are also much easier to manage and more affordable). In terms of natural beauty, it is hard to beat Wales and there are a number of great places to visit for those that enjoying walking and cycling.

    The Best Places for Walking/Sightseeing

    Snowdonia

Snowdonia is one of the first places that will spring to mind when discussing Wales and for good reason. The incredible National Park spans 823 square miles with stunning, rugged and diverse landscapes that are perfect for hiking.

    Tenby, Pembrokeshire

The beautiful walled seaside town of Tenby in Pembrokeshire is a must-visit for those that enjoy walking holidays thanks to its superb coastal walks with the remains of Tenby Castle overlooking the harbour. It is an area filled with ancient history, so there is a lot to learn on a trip here too.

    Gower Peninsula

The Gower Peninsula in southwest Wales was the first area in the UK to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1956. It boasts a striking and diverse landscape with beaches, cliffs, woodlands and more, so it is an interesting and rewarding place for walking holidays.

Devil’s Bridge & The Hafod Estate

The Devil’s Bridge is a sight to behold as three bridges stacked on top of each other with the oldest dating back to the 11th century. The nearby Hafod Estate is an amazing place for exploring with 200 acres of restored woodlands and 18th-century gardens.

    Cycling Routes

    North Wales Coaster

This incredible 100-mile route takes you from east to west through northern Wales crossing Menai Bridge and providing amazing views of Conwy Castle and the coastline before arriving at the Wales-England border at Connah’s Quay.

    Lon Las Cymru

An epic 250-mile route taking you from top to bottom, this is one of the best ways to see the stunning natural beauty of Wales and a rewarding trip to make. The route itself can be changed and adapted in many ways, so you may want to plan your own route ahead of time.

    South Wales Coast

There is something special about the coast in South Wales thanks to its wild, dramatic beauty. This is one of the best cycling holidays in the UK that will start in Swansea passing through the Gower Peninsula to the coast, through the wetland conservation areas and passing through scenic villages and farmland before arriving in St Davids.

Wales is a wonderful place for a staycation with many great places to visit all over whether you want to enjoy hiking or prefer exploring on two wheels. Hopefully, this post will give you a few ideas for the best places to visit for an unforgettable trip.
