Cardiff counselling centre win Wales Prestige Award

Counselling and wellbeing centre Breathe has won Counselling Specialists of the Year at the Wales Prestige Awards.

Breathe counsellors work with people all over the UK – online,  over the phone, and in-person in its Cardiff centre.

Following a particularly difficult year with many struggling with their mental health, counsellors have worked with more people to overcome the challenges they face.

The Wales Prestige Awards support and celebrate the achievements of local businesses, recognising the quality of services provided. Winners are determined through various factors, service excellence, industry recognition, employee satisfaction, marketing and branding, ethical practice, and customer feedback.

Breathe is part of the mental health and social change charity Platfform.  Since its launch in 2018, the social enterprise has significantly grown to over 50 people including counsellors, psychologists, and supervisors – working with both people and organisations.

Christine, Head of Breathe said:

“This award is an incredible achievement by the Breathe team. We are committed to providing the best possible counselling service to people and organisations.

Quality of service is important to us. We support our counsellors through continuing professional development activities, clinical supervision, team meetings as well as nurturing our budding trainees.

Our person-centred approach is fundamental to the service we provide. We always carry out a client assessment first which means we can pair people to a counsellor best suited to their needs.

Breathe counsellors work with people facing many kinds of challenges and mental health difficulties. We have seen great results using both quantitative and qualitative measures to measure outcomes. Recent results from Core- 10 reports show an average 12-point decrease which means clients have moved from moderate/ severe level of risk to low level risk”.
