To celebrate Geraint Thomas’ Tour de France win, hundreds of cyclists from Cardiff took to the streets in a lap of honour for the city’s own Welsh winner.
The lap of honour began outside the National Assembly building in Cardiff Bay, before crossing the barrage and heading up the Taff Trail to Cardiff Castle.
Riders worse yellow in appreciation of Geraint’s win, as well as ringing their bells and honking their horns in celebration. More than 200 riders signed-up to take part in this evening’s ride.

“There has been an outstanding buzz across not only the cycling community in Wales; but everyone in Wales – who have really come together to support Geraint all the way.
“The celebratory ride is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Wales, and Geraint’s hometown of Cardiff to unite together, wear yellow and show their pride for being Welsh.
“We are overjoyed with Geraint’s achievements over the last 3 weeks and look forward to watching him tomorrow officially secure victory as the first welsh man ever to win the Tour De France.
“An unbelievable moment not only for cycling, but for sport in Wales.”
