A new look X-Ray will return to BBC One Wales for a new series on May 30th at 8pm and will be travelling around the country for six weeks from today.
For nearly two years – through the height of the pandemic – X-Ray was filmed inside BBC Wales’ Central Square building in Cardiff. Now, with restrictions easing, the programme is going back out on the streets of Wales to meet the public. And with the current cost of living crisis, X-Ray has never been more important.
The X-Ray team, including presenter Lucy Owen, will be hitting the road, bringing a new look pop-up set to six different towns and cities and members of the public are invited to come along.
The new series will feature a new ‘Ask the X-Ray Expert’ section, where viewers can meet the team and ask for advice from experts on subjects such as building work, buying a car or booking a holiday.
Presenter Lucy Owen said: “I’m so excited to be taking X-Ray back out on the road, travelling around Wales and meeting people. It’s going to be a real buzz. We’re really hoping to see as many people as possible in each place we go, and we try to help them with any consumer problems they’re struggling with.
“In the past when X-Ray went to different towns and cities, we kept it quite low key, but now we’re making a much bigger deal of it, bringing a much larger team and our new pop-up studio to each location, as well as one of our family of experts to help answer people’s questions.”
Ahead of the first episode broadcasting on May 30th, X-Ray will be in the following locations between 11am-3pm on the following dates:
- Friar’s Walk, Newport – May 24
- Knab Rock car park, off Mumbles Road, Swansea, SA3 4EL – May 31
- Castle Square, Haverfordwest – June 7
- Aberystwyth Promenade (near the bandstand) – June 14
- Llandudno North Shore Beach Promenade (near Prince Edward Square) – June 21
- Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre, Wrexham – June 28
Nick Andrews, BBC Wales’ Head of Content Commissioning said: “It’s terrific to have X-Ray back on the road meeting people from across Wales. We’re living through a time when we need our crack unit of consumer experts more than ever. Rogues shouldn’t be getting away with it, tricksters need to be outfoxed and hard earned cash needs to be returned. From secret filming to undercover work, the X-Ray team have never been more relevant to peoples’ lives and continue to deliver standout results.”
