A 145-hectare forest in Wales has come to the market for offers over £5.5million.
Part of a commercial complex well known for its high productivity, Bryn Forest is a high-yielding, second-rotation Sitka spruce plantation near Tregaron in Ceredigion.
Olly Thompson, of selling agents GOLDCREST Land & Forestry Group, said: “Bryn Forest is a prime forest in west Wales benefitting from excellent internal infrastructure and good growing conditions.
“It is also well placed for local and national timber processors; there is strong demand for timber in the area and competition from a number of processors. As part of a larger forestry complex, it benefits from shared road costs and operational scale.
“Bryn Forest offers an excellent opportunity for medium to long-term investment. At an average age of 19 years running costs are minimal. The oldest crops are scheduled for harvesting in about 10 years; ideally timed for the 2030s when global demand for timber is expected to be ahead of supply. As the UK imports 80% of its timber needs, home-grown resources will become increasingly valuable. It is anticipated that rising demand for wood in a low-carbon economy will push the price of timber upwards.
“This is a great opportunity to acquire a good quality established forest, something which has become less readily available on the open market, and we expect it to attract significant interest.”
