Essential resurfacing works, planned for the carriageways forming the Sarn interchange (M4 Junction 36), are due to start on Monday 12 September, with drivers being warned that some delays are likely.
The work will be completed over approximately eleven nights, Mondays to Fridays, between 11pm and 5am – subject to weather conditions. Although work will be undertaken during the night, drivers are encouraged to make use of alternative routes, as disruption for motorists is still anticipated. Drivers should also be aware of lane closures, leading up to and through the works, from 8pm each night.
Roads affected by the overnight road closures will include the A4061 bridge over M4 (North and Southbound) and the A4061 Sarn roundabouts (North and South). Where necessary, during this period of work, access to and from the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet village, including KFC, Harvester, Odeon and Premier Inn will be directed via the A4061 Pen-Y-Cae roundabout only. Signed diversions will be in operation to direct affected traffic.
The scheme, costing £350k, forms part of Bridgend County Borough Council’s highway improvement programme, which is seeing roads across the county borough undergo essential resurfacing, repair, and improvements.
We are hugely grateful for ongoing investment into the crucial highway network in Bridgend County Borough.
For some time, we have been liaising with local businesses, as well as the Welsh Government representatives (SWTRA), due to the closure of the M4 slip roads at certain times, with the hope of limiting disruption for all concerned. We apologise for any temporary delays and ask drivers for their understanding and patience during this time.
Councillor John Spanswick, Cabinet Member for Communities
