Mayor of Bridgend’s Citizenship Awards 2023 opens for nominations

Bridgend, South Wales UK

Do you know someone who regularly goes the extra mile for others, is an outstanding charity fundraiser, has performed an act of great bravery, or has put the local area on the map by achieving something special over the past 18 months?

As the year draws to a close, the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough is seeking nominations for the Mayor’s Citizenship Awards 2023, where individuals, groups or businesses will be acknowledged for their outstanding achievements.

Previous winners have included two brave young brothers who saved their mother’s life, following her suffering a seizure at home; a 10-year-old who, having autism and ADHD, raised over £1,100 for InclusAbility – a group that supports him and other children like him- by riding his bike 100 miles during September 2021.

These awards offer the perfect opportunity to recognise and thank ordinary people, either living or working in the county borough, who go the extra mile to help others.

Exceptional work is carried out daily in our communities, which has a real and positive impact on the lives of local people. It is a privilege to be part of an event that shines a light on these unsung heroes and gives them the recognition that they truly deserve.

I am very much looking forward to learning more of the nominees and their exceptional efforts over the last 18 months

The Mayor, Councillor Martyn Jones

Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council, the awards are open to people who live in the county borough, as well as to local groups and businesses based locally.

Nominations opened on Monday 7 November 2022 and close on Friday 13 January 2023.
