From Pembrokeshire to Barry Island, there are more amusement and theme parks in Wales than you may realise! The area is teeming with places to go and things to see, but if you want good, clean fun, it also has plenty in store. These amusement and theme parks are open all year, and if you want the kids (and adults) to have fun, we’ve got just the thing – and the best part is, they’re spread out all around Wales, so an hour’s drive (or less) will take you there. Here are the most popular theme parks in Wales today.
- Splashaway Bay
Among the many theme parks you can find in Wales, one of the best is Splashaway Bay – and for good reason! It’s got everything from segways to trails and aqua jets to dozens of other activities and attractions you and your brood will surely enjoy. But, of course, fun in the water is where it’s at, and you can indulge in the mega pool indoors or go boating at the gorgeous lake for a more relaxed activity. Of course, there’s lots of entertainment as well – you can choose from various professional singers and dancers and even sing along. And the best part is that there’s more in store in the coming years.
- Oakwood Park
Oakwood Park is famous for being one of the largest parks in Wales, and it shows! This theme park is packed with rides for kids and adults, and some of the park’s specialities include Neverland and Young Adventure, so don’t forget to pay a visit. These specialities have a wide variety of rides, including a Clown Coaster, Giant Teacups, a Circus Train, a Neverland Chase house, and soft play indoors. There are even rides the whole family can enjoy, such as Spooky 3D and Bobsleigh. It also has the tallest swing in the UK, wooden roller coasters, and other thrill rides sure to boost your adrenaline. Incidentally, if you want to create your own theme park at home or a special venue, you can do so – with help from We Are Tricycle, who offer lots of rides and funfair stalls for hire!
- Barry Island Park
Barry Island Pleasure Park is its official name, and the park offers a variety of rides and attractions – for free! But be warned – it’s only open from the start of Easter until the first weeks of September, so if you’re looking to bring your entire family there, you would have to wait until next year. But, as anyone who’s experienced Barry Island Park will tell you, it’s worth the wait. You can choose from an assortment of rides that include the rollercoaster (aptly named the Hellraiser), the Take-Off, the Jungle River cruise, the inflatables, the trampolines, and the arcade (Treasure Island). There are also lots of game stalls and booths where you can try your luck (and have the best fun while you’re at it), and if you and your family get hungry, plenty of cafes and eateries will satisfy your palate.
- Greenwood Park
Situated on Y Felinheli, Greenwood Family Park is perfect for families and friends. There are lots of activities in store for everyone, from the fantastic playground adventure to the slides, the rides like the Enchanted Wood Barn, the Giant Jumper, and plenty more. You may even come across some unique events, such as face painting and a Pirate Theatre, body art and hair braiding, and cap it all off with a magic show.
