Genesis Biosciences has recently made a key appointment in its Cardiff-based headquarters to support their global capabilities.

Multi-lingual Katie Thomas has been appointed as their Commercial & Operations Assistant and will aid the business in its international affairs using her ability to speak French, German and Italian.

After graduating from Aberystwyth University in 2016 with a double-major in French and German and a minor in Italian, Katie moved to Italy where she taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) for three years and achieved non-native fluency before stepping into the world of business.

Her move to Genesis will be her first within the scientific industry and the role will see her expanding her overall business knowledge while supporting the Sales, Operations and Administrational sides of the business.

Discussing her recent appointment, Katie said: “I am really looking forward to joining Genesis Biosciences and stepping out of my comfort zone a little. I have always had a fascination with science and medicine from a young age, but with my strengths lying in the arts I never really had the confidence to take such a leap until now.

“Joining Genesis was an easy decision once I met with their friendly and down-to-earth UK team and got to see the incredible work that they are doing for the both the environment and their field of science. I am very passionate about protecting the environment and about learning what I can do to assist, so joining a business who is dedicated to providing alternatives for harmful chemicals seemed like a good fit!”

Emma Saunders, General Manager at Genesis Biosciences, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Katie to the team and are excited to have such a multi-lingual talent on board. As a global company, our international relationships are very important to us as it means that we can continue to work with businesses worldwide towards making a positive impact on the industry and environment.”

Genesis Biosciences is dedicated to using multi-disciplinary research methods looking into the use of sustainable microbial organisms for a range of applications including cleaning, waste-water management and odour control. With a leading fermentation facility and laboratories in Georgia, USA, as well as a comprehensive research, development & technical facility located in Cardiff, Genesis’ unique eco-benign® philosophy is gradually reducing the need for the use of toxic chemicals worldwide.
