Award winning Limb Art set to launch in America

Mark Williams founder of Limb Art

Award winning Welsh manufacturer LIMB-art is launching its products in America.

LIMB-art founder Mark Williams has signed an exclusive agreement with Empire Medical for them to distribute his prosthetic leg covers to the US market.

Empire Medical is the leading provider of technology-enabled, data-driven solutions that simplify the purchasing process for independent O&P facilities.

LIMB-art will supply them with a range of premium injection moulded prosthetic leg covers using the latest Computer Aided Design and manufacture processes.

Mark said: “We’re delighted to have signed this agreement to launch in America. The market in the US is ten times the size of the UK and we’re expecting to make over 500 leg covers a year for amputees.

“We have ambitious growth plans for the business and will also be launching in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands this Spring.

“We have an agreement in place to supply leg covers to Australia and we’re already sending them weekly deliveries, many of them custom made with bespoke designs.

“We’re currently working with the Welsh Government to look at distribution deals for Germany and Spain and would also like to target Canada, Italy and the Middle East.

“Our leg covers make a real difference to the lives of amputees. A recent customer told us that when he wears his leg cover he feels ‘very proud, positive and mentally stronger’ and that ‘it’s something you want to show people instead of trying to hide your disability away’.”

Mark, whose business in based in Denbighshire in North Wales, has won numerous awards for his prosthetic leg covers, which are available in the UK on the NHS.

Tough, durable and recyclable, the leg covers are made using a robust high-grade nylon and designed with maximum durability in mind.

There are an estimated 65 million people globally that live with limb amputations with 1.5 million people undergoing amputations – mostly lower limb – each year.

Most amputees need access to prosthetic services and this need is expected to double by 2050.
