Dedicated dino fans will take a walk on the wild side this month as Dinosaur Experiences brings a host of life-sized dinosaurs to popular Pembrokeshire theme park Oakwood.

This summer marks 30 years since the original, first of six Jurassic Park films was launched and to mark the occasion, prehistoric visitors to Oakwood Theme Park will include life-sized robotic Jurassic giants and baby dinos, all with realistic moving parts.

Get up close and personal with a huge Velociraptor or Brontosaurus, dig for fossils or get involved in the on-site Raptor Training Academy. New to the dinosaur experiences? You’re in for a JAW-some time, all of the dinosaurs are friendly, rather than scaly beasts with huge claws and primal teeth.

Whether you’re a day, season or annual pass holder, you will be able to enjoy the interaction for no additional charge when it comes to Oakwood over the next two weekends June 17th-18th and 24th-25.th

Remarkably, Jurassic Park, one of the biggest films in history had its UK premier three decades ago in The Lyric Theatre Welsh town of Carmarthen, less than an hour away from Oakwood Theme Park.

This was after the cinema team wrote to Stephen Spielberg personally to request that they could show it to raise funds to stop the cinema from closing. The infamous director went further than that and asked them to show the blockbuster at The Lyric before anywhere else in the country.

This behind-the-scenes storyline was recently made into Sky film Save the Cinema.

In the Autumn, there will be UK-wide screenings of the triple Oscar winning film, accompanied by a live orchestra. But, until then, you can get a taste of what Prehistoric Pembrokeshire has to offer.

Start off small with the cute baby dinosaur petting zoo or let the adrenaline kick in with a ride on Speed, the park’s beyond-vertical-drop, which is the fastest ride in the whole of Wales.

Freya Knibb, marketing manager at Oakwood Theme Park said: “We are thrilled to welcome Dinosaur Experiences to Oakwood Theme Park and are sure the Jurassic June event will be very popular with visitors of all ages.

“I can’t believe it’s been 30 years since Jurassic Park. It’s going to be a great summer for dino fans with different dinosaur events across the UK and this will give a flavour of that.

“There is plenty on offer for the whole family at Oakwood Theme Park, from toddler-friendly rides to the thrills of Bounce and splash of Waterfall.”

Dinosaur Experiences is at Oakwood from Saturday, June 17th – Sunday, June 18th and Saturday, June 24th – Sunday, June 25th.

There is no additional cost for the attraction, which will run from 10am to 5pm on the four days. Tickets are available online and are included in the ticket when purchasing day, season, or annual passes.

Tickets must be purchased online in advance.
