Almost 2,000 athletes are set to descend on South Wales for the second sold-out edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea.

Sunday, July 16, will see them line up at the Prince of Wales Dock ready to race.

They’ll start with a 1.2-mile swim before heading into a single-loop 56-mile bike ride through Mumbles, parts of Gower and back along Swansea Bay into the city.

They’ll then take on a 13.1-mile two-loop run course from the city centre, past Swansea Arena, towards Mumbles before heading back towards the Museum Park finish line.

Among the global field a large number of Welsh athletes will take part.

IRONMAN UK race director Rebecca Sutherland said: “We can’t wait to welcome local athletes back and see them racing alongside our professional athletes.”

Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “It’s good to see athletes gearing up for another great Swansea sporting occasion.”

The big sporting week of July 10-16 is due to see Swansea host the Para Sport Festival and free international spectator events 2023 World Triathlon Para Series Swansea and IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea.
