A Pentwyn man caught dealing drugs has been jailed

Callum Beer

Callum Beer was arrested when plain clothes officers patrolling the city centre witnessed suspected drug dealing.

The police officers noticed Beer was attracting a steady stream of suspected drug users in an area close to the River Taff in Sophia Gardens.

He was seen to carry out 10 to 15 exchanges while placing bank notes in his man bag and constantly taking and making calls on a mobile phone.

Beer tried to make off and discard his mobile phone but was arrested and taken to Cardiff Bay Police Station.

In his man bag, he had a black pot containing 10 wraps of crack cocaine and 11 wraps of heroin, plus more than £350 cash.

Following his arrest on July 29, 20-year-old Beer was convicted of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, and possession of criminal property.

On October 11 he was back in Cardiff Crown Court where he was sentenced to three years and two months in prison.

South Wales Police has a zero-tolerance approach to drug dealing and this case is just one example of how we are tackling drug dealing in the community.

Anyone with suspicions or information about illegal drug supply is urged to contact South Wales Police.
