Swansea’s free buses are back for the Easter holidays, starting this Saturday, March 23.

Local shoppers and day-trippers heading into Swansea city centre or out and about around can travel on buses for free every Saturday and Sunday over the Easter school holiday period.

Easter traditionally herald’s the start of the six-month tourism season in the city and there’s lots of events on offer as well as wonderful spring walks in our parks and coastal paths to enjoy as well.

The free bus offer will help make all of it easier and cheaper to enjoy during the cost of living crisis.

Swansea Council Leader, Rob Stewart, welcomed the latest offer and hopes everyone will take advantage. He said: “Since we launched the offer people have enjoyed around 700,000 free bus rides.

“Easter can be an expensive time for everyone but we’re committed to ensuring families in Swansea can save a bit of money on travel costs, leave the car at home and save their petrol money to spend on other things.

“The city centre is a great shopping destination in itself for people wanting to take a free trip. But it is also about giving the public the chance to travel all across Swansea, whether it’s to visit family members or just enjoy to what Swansea has to offer.”

Andrew Stevens, Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure, said: “One of the main aims has been to encourage more people to use public transport in Swansea.

“We know lots of people travel by car and may not have been on a bus previously. This free bus offer is a great way of introducing more people to public transport and reduce the number of cars on our roads.

“It’s important we support public transport operators in Swansea and do what we can to increase passenger numbers.”
