Caulmert’s growth target boosted by appointment and new-look board

(L-R): Caulmert's new-look board of Mike Caulfield, Harry Caulfield, Ffrancon Williams, Donna Milne, Paul Saville, and Susan Crowley.

A North Wales-based engineering, environmental, and planning consultancy’s ambitious growth goals have been accelerated by a key appointment joining its new-look board.

Caulmert, which has offices in St Asaph, Bangor, Altrincham, Nottingham, Sheffield, and Kent, has welcomed Ffrancon Williams as it bids to double its £3.85m turnover in the next five years.

Ffrancon, who is the former group chief executive of North Wales’ largest housing association, Adra, takes up the role of non-executive director and business development manager.

Lending his considerable leadership expertise to Caulmert’s board, Ffrancon will join Mike Caulfield (founder and managing director), Donna Milne (director), Paul Saville (director of engineering), Susan Crowley (director of planning), and Harry Caulfield (company secretary) in shaping the future of the company.

Ffrancon, who has more than 20 years’ experience across sectors including rail, housing, and manufacturing, said: “Having met all the senior leaders and many of the team, there is reason to be excited about the future.

“The strength and ability of the people here at Caulmert comes across the moment you step onboard, and the open culture is conducive to driving the business forward.”

Ffrancon, who will also support business director Chris Gooch-Butler, believes his arrival can help Caulmert achieve its goals.

“I’m confident I can add value in Caulmert’s bid to double turnover between now and 2029, which in itself is not an unrealistic target,” continued Ffrancon.

“There is an impressive range of service capabilities offered by Caulmert which can provide a one stop shop for clients for professional services.

“Existing clients clearly value the services currently provided by Caulmert and it is now about putting firm building blocks in place to continue the company’s growth.

“It is always tougher to develop and grow a business once it reaches a certain level, but by putting the right foundations in place, there’s no reason why Caulmert can’t match the ambitions its senior leaders have.”

Founder and managing director Mike said: “We are thrilled to have Ffrancon at Caulmert given his experience in leadership and growing businesses.

“A company benefits from a strong board, and the new-look structure, which contains a variety of expertise, will drive us forward by reenergising and refocusing the team.

“The last four years have been extremely challenging given a global pandemic, unstable economy, and a cost-of-living crisis, but the future looks bright as we build on strong foundations and a fantastic client base.”

Founded in 2009, Caulmert is on track to meet an ambitious growth and development plan.
