Work by Trivallis has been completed on the former Miskin School, transforming it into 11 affordable homes for the community. The building has begun welcoming tenants, with move-ins starting on Monday, December 16, just in time for Christmas.

This project was made possible through the Social Housing Grant provided by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Welsh Government.

The former school has been converted into 10 one-bedroom flats and one two-bedroom house, addressing a significant local need for one-bedroom properties. To ease parking concerns, 11 dedicated parking spaces have been added at the rear of the site.

Councillor Mark Norris, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Prosperity and Development, said: “I’m pleased to see that the redevelopment of the former Miskin school has now been completed by Trivallis.

“Schemes such as this are an important part of our commitment to our residents to provide quality and affordable housing, which we are able to support through funding from the Social Housing Grant.

“It is no secret that the UK is in the grips of a housing crisis, with Rhondda Cynon Taf facing similar issues to the rest of the country. Access to housing for residents is a priority for us, and we will continue to provide funding to support the development of much needed homes.

“We have seen many successful housing projects in recent years, including turning empty properties into homes that people cherish, but we are fully aware that there still a number of pressures.

“We are pleased to support Trivallis alongside Welsh Government in this very successful project.”

Sarah Davies, Development Manager at Trivallis, expressed her pride in the achievement: “We’re overjoyed to see this project come to life. These homes will make a real difference to people who need affordable housing in Miskin. Seeing this historic site ready to welcome people again is truly special. We would also like to thank Cartrefi and the design team for delivering such a high-quality scheme.”

Trivallis purchased the building in November 2019 and carefully designed the redevelopment to provide high-quality homes while preserving the building’s unique character.

Neil Phillips, Construction Manager at Trivallis, said: “This project is about more than just housing; it’s about honoring the history of Miskin while meeting the needs of today. By retaining the school’s character, we’ve created something that blends the past and future beautifully.”
