The winners of the awards will receive one of five specially handmade trophies. The organisers wish to thank I Loves the ‘Diff for their support for the awards, particularly the Most Cycle Friendly Business Category.
A spokesperson for Cardiff Cycle City said:
“We are delighted that so many people have already taken part in our awards. It shows that interest in cycling in Cardiff is booming. There are clearly some great things happening in our city but also a lot more that needs to be done. Potholes are a big problem for cyclists, they can tip riders off their bikes or force them to swerve into traffic, which is why we need motorists to give plenty of room to cyclists when they overtake. Junctions can also be a problem, especially when bike riders have to cut across lanes of traffic to get to their destination. We’ve shortlisted the problems that most people mentioned to allow people to highlight the most serious issues with their votes. We have also passed the full list of problem potholes and junctions raised with us to Cardiff City Council and they have asked for a meeting with us to discuss the issues raised.”
The results of the vote and the award ceremony will take place at the Cardiff Cycle City Xmas Do in Ride My Bike Cafe, Park Place, on Wednesday 19th December from 6.00pm. We’re expecting a lot of people and places are strictly limited, so anyone wanting to attend is advised to book early.
