Llanishen Leisure Centre celebrates the completion of its major refurbishment programme this week.
The major project has included improvements to the fitness and changing areas to update the North Cardiff facility’s look and feel, making a more attractive experience for users. The old gym has been transformed into a new group fitness studio with a sprung floor. The first floor meeting room has been transformed into a dedicated spin room complete with air conditioning and a mood lighting grid. This is already proving very popular, especially the disco light mode!

Changing areas have also undergone a complete refurbishment. The new changing rooms have been transformed and provide better storage lockers, showers, mirrors and hair dryers. There will also be improved private changing cubicles and family change and baby change facilities.
Work has been done in the reception area on new flooring and lighting to improve customer access. Fast track checking in kiosks have been installed for members to cut back on queuing.
New Technogym equipment include 24 spin bikes and state of the art toning machines which can be operated by an elec power system rather than muscle power. This makes them ideal for beginners and people managing mobility restrictions and living with health conditions such as MS.
The centres junior fitness programme is proving a popular activity for 11 – 16yrs with access to the fitness suite and dedicated fitness instructors together with Junior group fitness classes throughout the week and during holiday periods.
Joanne Smith, General Manager, Better Cardiff Llanishen said:
“We are proud of the work that has been completed at Llanishen as part of Better Cardiff’s major refurbishment programme for the eight leisure centres it manages across the city on behalf of Cardiff City Council. I think people will be very pleased with the improvements especially the new toning suite . In addition to necessary work on the changing facilities have been replaced too, making a visit more attractive to the thousands of customers who regularly use it and providing residents in North Cardiff facilities that are with the newest in the city– some of which are the first of their kind in Cardiff.
“We thank our customers for their patience during the refurbishment phase and apologise for the inconvenience caused as facilities were upgraded. We look forward to welcoming both new and existing customers back to one of Cardiff’s most popular public leisure centres.”
