South Wales Police PC Simon Shaughnessy has helped to reunite a family with their lost dog on Thursday 24th January 2019 after it was reported missing.
The four-month old Labrador puppy Reggie had disappeared when out for a walk with his owner in Penllergaer Woods last Friday 18th January. He was reportedly seen to be injured and with a passer-by who had found him.
The owner reported this to the police, and PC Simon Shaughnessy based at Gorseinon Police Station went out of his way to help find the puppy and return him to his family.
By tracking the registration number of the car from the car park, the search lead to Sussex, where Reggie was found by Sussex Police on Thursday 24th January. He was reunited with his owners later that day.
Inspector Emma Fox said:
“We’re very proud and impressed by PC Shaughnessy, who did most of the work in finding Reggie in his own time without being asked and without hesitation. He continued to help investigate and search in-between his shifts, and stayed on late each evening until he was successful in tracing the puppy to Sussex.”
“We’d like to thank the public for all their support in helping to find Reggie. We’re pleased that the story has a happy ending, and there will be no further action taken.”
