£144M Fantastic Friday EuroMillions Jackpot up for Grabs

This Friday’s (15 February) EuroMillions jackpot stands at a jaw-dropping £144M*. If won by a single ticket-holder this fantastic Friday jackpot would create the UK’s third biggest National Lottery winner ever.

According to Forbes in 2018, if one winner scooped the entire £144M jackpot, they would instantly become almost twice as rich as Wales’ superstar Gareth Bale (£74M). In fact, with £144M the winner could start their own football club, given that their instant wealth would be almost 18 times the annual wage bill for Cardiff City’s first team (£8.1M in October 2018 according to respected US website Spotrac).

A Welsh ticket-holder would follow in the footsteps of ‘The Catering Girls’, a syndicate of six catering staff at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, who scooped the £25.5M EuroMillions jackpot in October 2017, and promptly handed in their notice. Each syndicate member took home a life-changing £4,246,129.72.

If the lucky winner wanted to upgrade their Valentine’s Day gift retrospectively, they could do worse than looking at some of the most expensive Valentine’s Day presents ever sold. The heart-shaped 1001 Nights Diamond Purse by House of Mouawad contains 4,517 yellow, pink and transparent diamonds, adding up to a whopping 38,192 carats. Retailing at a mere £2.7M (3.1M Euros), it would be love at first sight for the lucky recipient. Or how about the Chopard 201 Carat watch, containing 874 diamonds, which would surely prove your love with a price tag of £17.5M (20M Euros).

If the winner then wanted to reward themselves after their generosity towards their loved one they could look into buying their own sun-drenched private island, perfect for romance or a sun-filled break at any time of the year. Spectabilis Island is available in the Bahamas for £47.7M. It has 460 acres with ample room for a private air strip or you could build your own helipad. It’s nestled in the heart of the Caribbean close the homes of some of the world’s most discerning celebrities and billionaires.

Andy Carter, The National Lottery’s Senior Winners’ Adviser said, “This Friday could create the UK’s third biggest National Lottery winner ever. With that giant cheque you could recreate that Valentine’s Day feel any day of the year and you would have more than enough to treat all your nearest and dearest.

“EuroMillions players help raise the £30M plus that The National Lottery gives to Good Causes each and every week.  This supports projects big and small across the country, including funding everything from local community projects to saving the nation’s heritage.”

UK EuroMillions players have well and truly been on a lucky streak in recent months. In the lead up to Christmas 2018 Andrew Clark from Boston finally came forward after six weeks to claim his £76.3M EuroMillions jackpot, while Patrick and Frances Connolly from Northern Ireland became the UK’s fourth biggest ever National Lottery winners when they scooped the entire £114.9M EuroMillions jackpot on New Year’s Day.

Currently the biggest lottery win in the UK is Colin and Chris Weir from Largs who won £161M on EuroMillions in 2011.
