Wales’ leading heart charity has teamed up with the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to create an instructional video on how to perform CPR and use a defibrillator.

In the instructional video Ryan Giggs speaks about the importance of learning CPR and how to use a defibrillator before being joined by international players Will Vaulks and Jonny Williams who demonstrate how to perform effective CPR and use a defibrillator in a bid to teach viewers how they can ‘save a life this season’.

Part of Welsh Hearts’ mission is to provide public-access defibrillators in Wales. In order to continue working towards this mission Welsh Hearts and The FAW are working together with the aim of putting a defibrillator in every football club in Wales.

Sharon Owen, Charity Director at Welsh Hearts said:

“I’m so excited that we’ve been able to team up with FAW to create this instructional video. Being able to perform CPR is skill that you hope you’ll never need but could save someone’s life.

We continue to teach CPR and how to use a defibrillator across Wales to ensure that this knowledge becomes commonplace and, in the event, that it is needed anyone feels confident doing so. A clear and easy to follow video like this is so important because it can be shared and seen by a huge number of people, ensuring the knowledge is spread as far as it can be.”

Welsh Hearts and the FAW are encouraging the public to watch the video and ensure they understand what to do if someone they are with or near appears to be suffering from a cardiac arrest.

Welsh Hearts will also be hosting An Evening With Ryan Giggs on December 5 which will include a drinks reception, three course dinner, raffle and entertainment.
