Aberdare Festival was once again a huge hit with families and visitors of all ages over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Around 4,000 people flocked to Aberdare Park on Saturday (May 26) for the annual event, this year sponsored by the award-winning Penaluna’s Famous Fish & Chips.
Gates opened at 11am, and after the rain showers, the sun shone for the rest of the day.
Attractions included a Family Fun Fair; Zorbing Balls; Donkey Rides; Zip Wire; Spider Mountain and Vertical Slide; Circus Skills, Food and Craft stalls, Farm Animals, Exotic Animals and the exclusive Aberdare Festival Land Train.
The boating lake, which has benefited from the Council’s wider 100k investment in Aberdare Park through the RCTinvest programme, also proved to be very popular, with people taking to the water aboard the four-person Pedalo Boats at the beauty spot.
There was also a fantastic line-up of non-stop live music throughout the day, and amongst the performers were The Witching Hour, Head Noise, Callum Howells, Kaci James, Christian Punter, Victoria Kerley, DJ Birdy and Spirit of Boogie.
Cllr Maureen Webber, Deputy Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, said:
“Aberdare Festival was once again a massive success, with thousands of people coming along to Aberdare Park. This event in the Council’s annual events calendar is a firm favourite for residents and visitors alike, and keeps growing.
“It is just one of many family events staged by the Council across the County Borough, all providing a welcome boost to the local economy as well and allowing the public to enjoy a great family day out over the Bank Holiday weekend.”
