A pupil at Craig y Parc school, Cardiff, was treated to a special display by the local police service for her 14th birthday.
Carys Bibby, who has charge syndrome, celebrated her birthday at the school for children with learning difficulties, where her dad arranged for police to pay a visit. The force pulled up outside of the school with the ‘blues and twos’, accompanied by some of the K-9 unit and the children watched the display from the hall.
Charge syndrome cause multi-sensory impairment and learning difficulties, as well as a compromised airway. Craig y Parc is a school for complex, neurological and multi disabilities, offering tailored support to each individual it supports.
Carys’ dad said: “It was wonderful, thank you!”
Richard Horton, principal at Craig y Parc School, said: “Seeing the police pull up outside our school with their flashing lights and police dog was fantastic. All of the children thought it was fantastic, their faces were a picture.
“Like everybody, we’re doing our very utmost to ensure that the people we support at Craig y Parc don’t suffer as a consequence of the global pandemic.”
The Craig y Parc school curriculum focuses on individual ability at every stage of the pupil’s development. All aspects of learning are supported by an experienced team. The service is operated by Ambito Education, part of the Salutem Group.
