Aldi partners with Port Talbot charity to provide holidays kits

The Holiday Kits include games, colouring books, recipes and free shopping vouchers to help children in Port Talbot stay busy and ensure that they have access to healthy, fresh food during the summer holidays.

Aldi has donated Holiday Kits to Bethel Food Share in Port Talbot to support local children in need during the school holidays.

In partnership with Team GB and Neighbourly, Aldi have created the Holiday Kits, which include games, colouring books, recipes and craft activities, inspired by Team GB athletes, to help children stay busy and active during the summer holidays.

With many children missing out on school meals during the summer holidays, Aldi has also provided free shopping vouchers that can be used to purchase ingredients for the healthy recipes that are included in the kits, ensuring that children in Port Talbot have access to healthy, fresh food.

Bethel Food Share, which helps to feed and provide support to deprived families, has redistributed the kits to families in need living in the area.

Fritz Walleczek, Managing Director of Corporate Responsibility at Aldi UK, said: “To help families in Port Talbot, and across the UK, we have worked with our charity partner, Neighbourly and Team GB to create Holiday Kits that are designed to provide kids with something fun to do at home, as well as food vouchers and recipes to help out with the cost of a weekly shop.”

Sally Lewis, Food Bank Manager at Bethel Food Share, said: “We’re seeing more families across Port Talbot turning to us for support during the school holidays and Aldi’s Holiday Kits will help us provide the support these families and children need.”

Aldi has already inspired more than 1.6 million schoolchildren to learn more about the benefits of cooking fresh, healthy food via its Get set to eat Fresh initiative, and has supported schools and parents during the coronavirus pandemic with online activities for kids and cereal donations to school breakfast clubs.
