A dog show is coming to Cardiff and this is how your pooch can get involved

Wag This Way returns in April for City Hospice

Cardiff’s local hospice, City Hospice, has announced an exciting addition to its Wag This Way event – a dog show hosted by Dog Furiendly.

The show will begin at 1pm, following the completion of the sponsored five-kilometre dog walk within the grounds of Bute Park on 20 March.

Owners will be able to enter their furry friends into categories such as Handsome Hound, Best Ears, Gorgeous Girl and Dazzling Duo to be in with a chance of winning some tasty treats from event partner Burns Pet Food and Nutrition.

Dog Furiendly will also be hosting a Hound Hang Out Area for owners and their pets to mingle with canine Instagram influencers. @_teddyandamy, a golden cockapoo from Cardiff with over 72,000 followers, will be amongst those making an appearance.

The event, sponsored by Wessex Garages, will support City Hospice, the only provider of home-based specialist palliative care in the capital. The charity provides care to people with terminal or life limiting illnesses in Cardiff, as well as counselling and support services for their patients’ families.

Adele Pember, Founder of Dog Furiendly, said: “Out of all of the cities we work in across the UK, Cardiff holds a very special place in our hearts. This beautiful city, filled with plenty of wagging tails, inspired us to create Dog Furiendly so that more dog owners could find places to visit and events like Wag This Way.

“We woofed with joy when we heard that this incredible event was back for 2022. During the event, we’ll be hosting a dog show complete with categories like Gorgeous Girl, Fabulous Fella and more! We’ll also be interviewing some superstar pupfluencers from across the UK.

“The event is plenty of fun for all the family to enjoy, all while raising funds for such an important cause. Instead of donating bucket loads of gravy bones, we’re raising real money to support the hard-working staff at City Hospice who provide essential care for those who need it the most. If we can even get 14 dogs involved with the dog show, that pays for an hour of essential nursing care for someone in Cardiff with a terminal illness.”

Daisy Magill, Fundraising and Events Coordinator at City Hospice, added: “We’re so excited to have Dog Furiendly on board for this year’s Wag This Way. I’m sure they will help make it a memorable event for all involved.”
