The awards, which are set to be held on September 26 at the Mercure Holland House hotel in Cardiff, will recognise the top acquisitions, funding deals and buyouts in Wales, bringing together the businesses and individuals who made them happen. Amongst those recognised is Berry Smith, seeing its team shortlisted for Deal of the Year for its work in respect of the sale of Reid Lifting Holdings Limited; and also, Legal Team of the Year, celebrating the continued successes of its corporate finance team.
Speaking of the nomination, Berry Smith partner, Andrew Bound, who heads up the corporate finance team said: “We are thrilled to be nominated for not one but two awards at this year’s Wales Insider Dealmakers awards. Overall, it’s been a great year for Berry Smith, and we believe that this is very much down to the continued hard work, dedicated support and professionalism of our team that works to represent our corporate clients across the UK and beyond. For this reason, it’s fantastic to see them recognised in the Legal Team of the Year category against a host of highly acclaimed firms – I believe it’s thoroughly deserved.”

Over the last 12 months, the firm has been responsible for a wide range of corporate transactions, working alongside local, national and international businesses across a wide range of sectors. The deals varied in size and complexities and included buyouts, buy-ins, acquisitions, disposals (both asset and share) and also equity and lender-based funding. This included the firm’s work with the owners of Reid Lifting Holdings Limited in the sale of the company to Pure Investco Limited.
Andrew continued: “Our team works tirelessly to secure the best outcomes for our clients, and we pride ourselves on our collective ability to see the bigger picture, realising the impact and opportunities that each deal will have. In the particular case of Reid Lifting, we worked closely with PwC and other advisers ensuring our clients’ successful exit from the business. The transaction should hopefully lead to the business’s international expansion and enable it to offer greater job opportunities in the region over the coming years. As such, we are incredibly proud to have been a part of this deal and it’s great to see this recognised alongside other notable deals in Welsh business from the past 12 months.”
