Fairwater’s leisure centre has had some exciting improvements take shape in the past few months.
Better Cardiff (the customer brand of leading charitable leisure social enterprise provider GLL) has invested more than £450,000 to provide a modern and dynamic facility at Fairwater, one of the eight leisure centres it manages in Cardiff.
The investment has included:
- Combining the old gym and studio space to create a much larger gym, doubling in size
- Providing the larger gym with brand-new Technogym equipment
- Converting two existing squash courts into a brand new fitness class studio
Customers will now have 48 work stations to train on instead of 21. The builders have also re-designed the reception area of the centre which Cardiff Council originally opened in 1985.
Deborah Yates, Manager, said:
“Customers old and new can look forward to a welcoming environment that is social and friendly with good facilities and a more modern look and feel to make us a centre of excellence and serve the ever expanding community around us in West Cardiff.
“Fairwater has wfriendly staff that are ready to help motivate people in 2019, whatever their fitness levels. We are ready to welcome all of our community with membership packages to suits a variety of different needs.”
Cardiff Council Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, Cllr Peter Bradbury said:
“Fairwater Leisure Centre is a well-used, popular facility right in the heart of the community and these exciting improvements will be greatly welcomed by local residents and groups who frequent the centre.
“The partnership with GLL was set out so that residents can have access to high quality leisure services, whilst making savings to the ongoing budget agenda. When completed users will enjoy an overall better experience and continued access to a wide range of sports and leisure amenities, in a modern and attractive venue.”
