Bridgend play area upgrades completed ready for school holidays

In recent months, the council’s Green Spaces team have been working with specialist contractors Sutcliffe Play Ltd and Play and Leisure Ltd on the repair and refurbishment of more than 20 children’s play areas across the county borough, with some playgrounds already open and more set to open next week.

Newbridge Playing Fields play area upgrades are now complete, following a minor delay due to unexpected complications with the sand area base and surrounding fencing. This has now been resolved and following an independent inspection it has now been given the go ahead to reopen for the public to enjoy.

The refurbished area now boasts a newly designed accessible roundabout, net, ramp, and slide, along with musical pipes, puzzle panel, ring climber and much more.

Upgrade works in the children’s play area at Fox Fields in Brackla are now complete with the park expected to be open for use today (Thursday 18 July).

Also, the children’s play area at Brackla Primary School is almost complete and is expected to open at the end of next week.

We know the importance of free outdoor play areas for the health and wellbeing of local children and young people.

We are delighted that we can announce the reopening of our play parks following a much-needed repair and refurbishment programme.

Particularly in time for the school summer holidays and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the weather will improve in time for our children and young people to enjoy the new facilities!
