An annual appeal co-ordinated by Caerphilly County Borough Council has raised £13,445 for local foodbanks.

The appeal saw residents, Council staff, contractors, and suppliers make online cash donations.

All donated funds were distributed directly to food banks across the Caerphilly food network, which is supported by the Council’s Caerphilly Cares team.

Companies who supported the appeal include Causeway, Fox Group Moving & Storage Ltd, AP Waters Building Contractors Ltd, Albert & Flaherty Ltd, Walters UK Ltd, Calibre Contracting Ltd, A I Landscapes, PHS Group, Creigiau Travel Ltd, JS Lee Services, Getech Ltd, Crafty Legs Events, AMS Heating & Plumbing Ltd, Powell Dobson Architects Ltd, Centerprise International Ltd, Proactis Ltd, Tina Blake Independent Social Worker, Panda Education & Training Ltd, MSH Building Ltd, Riad Maintenance Services Ltd, Andrew Scott Ltd, Integral Geotechnique, KB Taxis, Fusion Electrical & Building Services Engineering Ltd, Just Rails Ltd, LRM Planning Ltd, Cambria Consulting Ltd, Michael Dyson Associates Ltd, Styles Electrical Ltd, SD James Construction, Millennium Building Contractors LLP, Gary Carpenter Building Contactor, Robert Price Builders Merchants Ltd, Busy Feet Ltd, Rhymney House Hotel, Bryn Group, Hedlyn Building Contractors Ltd, Cardiff Lift Company Ltd, Perago, Holdsworth Foods, G Bridges Welding & Plating Ltd, Sunhigh Ltd, AA Woods, Bradfords Minibus Hire, IDS Security Systems Ltd, Ambassador Fire & Security Ltd, Laver Group Ltd, Gibson Specialist Technical Services Ltd, Pinnable Scaffolding, WTH Electrical Ltd, Woosnam Dairies Ltd, Quad Consult, Decoglass & Glazing Ltd, Academia Ltd, Asbri Planning Ltd, Starlight Electrical Services Ltd, New Tredegar Skip Hire, Jon James Studio Architecture, Beechwood Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Ltd, Willmott Dixon Construction Ltd, and Mel Evans Builders.

Cllr Carol Andrews, the Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Communities, said “We recognise that the current cost-of-living crisis and the festive period poses significant challenges for many of our residents and we’re working to offer a wide range of support to those affected.

“Sadly, this has resulted in increased numbers of people relying on foodbanks.  We hope this appeal helps foodbanks buy the supplies they desperately need to support even more residents during times of financial crisis.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has donated so generously this year and to those responsible for co-ordinating the appeal.”
