The conference will be held virtually on Friday, 25th June, when a range of guest speakers will discuss how to reach an audience in Wales and beyond through marketing and communication with the main focus on digital and online elements. It is an event for professionals working within the marketing and communications world, and an opportunity for them to develop, discuss and hear innovative ideas relating to reaching audiences.
The event will also appeal to business owners from a variety of fields who are permanently looking for audience development and customer discovery as well as benefiting people new to the marketing world, as a way of developing and networking with other links.
During the day there will be two main presentations, the first by Owen Derbyshire, S4C’s Marketing and Digital Director on marketing in Wales post-Covid, and the other to close the day by Owen Williams of Siml to discuss being brave in the use of social media as a medium. Two panel sessions will discuss ‘Networking and business development in the field,’ and ‘Blogging and creating my own content’. One of the Creative Carmarthenshire presenters, Melanie Owen will chair the conference, and is very much looking forward to the event.
Melanie Owen said: “It’s been great to chair Creative Carmarthenshire sessions this term and I’ve been delighted to meet and discuss with such interesting people from the creative sector in Wales. We’ve discussed some brilliant topics in film, VR, organising events, career development – and now I’m looking forward to this day which will be a great way to close this series of events. I can’t wait to chat with all the contributors and hear what they have to say.”
The guest speakers taking part in the conference will be Owen Derbyshire, S4C’s Marketing and Digital Director, Owen Williams of Siml, blogger Jess Davies, Lowri Johnston of Mesen, Heulwen Davies of Llais Cymru, Manon Wyn James of SYLW, Rebecca Griffiths of Communiqué and head of the marketing department of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and history blogger Claire Miles.
The sessions will be a mixture of Welsh and English – with simultaneous translation in the two main presentations.
Holding such a conference for the first time is a great source of pride and excitement for Canolfan S4C Yr Egin. As Carys Ifan, Director of Canolfan S4C Yr Egin, says:
“The Creative Carmarthenshire sessions highlight the expertise we have in the creative industries here in Carmarthenshire as well as across Wales and how generous people are in sharing good practice, advice and experience with others to develop in this area. The one that will take place during the conference, which includes some of Wales’s most experienced marketers, is an opportunity to gain first-class advice in order to drive your business and reach an audience. I can’t wait to hear them – and I’m pleased to be able to offer this through the Carmarthen Focus Hub and all fully funded.”
