Cardiff Bus warns of road closures ahead of music double bill

Music fans flocking to a double bill of Beyonce and the Rolling Stones in Cardiff this month are getting vital travel advice ahead of the shows.

The capital is preparing to welcome some of the world’s most famous musical acts in June, starting with Beyonce and Jay Z on Wednesday night.

The world-renowned singer will be performing the opening date of her On The Run II tour in the Principality Stadium, with thousands of fans expected to flock to the capital for the event.

Following this, iconic rockers The Rolling Stones will be bringing their No Filter tour to the Principality Stadium on June 15.

Ahead of the shows Cardiff Bus is advising fans of widespread road closures across the city centre which could affect their journeys.

From 3pm on June 6 and 15 roads including Westgate Street, Wood Street, Havelock Street, St Mary Street, Castle Street and Duke Street will be closed to traffic.

Cardiff Bus has also alerted passengers tonumerous service diversions and alterations to bus terminals during each show.

Route alterations include services 1 and 2, which will start from Canal Street and will not serve the rear Central Railway Station after 3pm.

Also running from Canal Street will be the 8, 9, 9A, and 13 to Cardiff Bay and the sports village, along with the 54 to Channel View and the X45 towards Cardiff Bay Retail Park.

Travelling from Customhouse Street is Baycar service 6. Also the 92, 93 and 94 will depart from Customhouse Street until 7pm and then from Tudor Street after 7pm.

While the 8, 9, and 9A to Heath Hospital, the 44, 45, 49, 50, 51, 52, 56, 57 and 58 will be running from Churchill Way. Also running from Churchill Way will be the 61 to Pengam Green and the X45 to St Mellons.

Travelling from Tudor Street will be the 13 to Drope, 15, 17, 18, 25, and 61 to Pentrebane. Services 63 and 63A, 64, 65, 66 and 95 to Barry, will also travel from this stop, along with the 95A, 95B, 95C, the 96, 96A and the X91.

Services running from Greyfriars Road on the day of the event are the 21, 23, 24 and 27, along with the 28, 28A, 28B, 30, 35, 53, and 54 to Cyncoed.  Passengers catching the 95 to Heath Hospital will also start from Greyfriars Road, along with those travelling on the 86 service.

The X59 Cardiff East Park & Ride will run from Dumfries Place HT all day.
