The grounds of Cardiff Castle has re-opened as of Monday 12th April, as a free to enter public space.

A takeaway café service is available in the grounds and visitors are welcome to bring a picnic and relax against the backdrop of Cardiff’s most iconic landmark.

A council spokesperson said: “The castle keep and the main house are still closed under Coronavirus regulations, but the team at the Castle are looking forward to welcoming visitors back into the grounds, free of charge, to enjoy some valuable additional green space in the city centre.”

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead. Cycle racks are available within the Castle grounds to provide additional security for anybody cycling into the city centre.

The Castle’s opening hours are Mon-Thurs (10am-4pm) and Fri-Sun (9am – 6pm).

The castle’s keep and the main house remain closed to visitors under Coronavirus legislation.
