Cardiff Metropolitan University’s School of Art and Design has launched a range of new evening and weekend short courses which will start in January 2025.
Open to all abilities, the short courses are an opportunity to hone skills at the university’s professionally equipped studios and workspaces. The courses are suitable for complete beginners as well as artists and designers of all abilities.
There is a total of ten courses to choose from, including pottery and painting, drawing, photography and sewing courses, all set to take place during the Spring term.
The following courses can now be booked onto:
- Introduction to Drawing, Wednesdays from 22nd January 2025
- Life Drawing, Tuesdays from 21st January 2025
- Doodle Ease – Creative Neurographic Mindfulness Course, Saturday 5th April 2025
- Painting the Human Figure, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd February 2025
- Introduction to Acrylic Painting, Mondays from 20th January 2025
- Creative Flow – with Acrylics, Mediums and collage, Thursdays from 23rd January 2025
- Collograph Printmaking, Mondays from 20th January 2025
- Reduction Linocut Printing, Tuesdays from 21 January 2025
- Sewing your own clothes – garment making, Mondays from 27th January 2025
- Weekend Learn to Sew (by hand and machine), Sundays from 12th January 2025
Dr Bethan Gordon, Dean of the School of Art and Design at Cardiff Met said: “Cardiff School of Art and Design’s short courses run throughout the year at our Llandaff campus and are designed to suit all learners. It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced artist or designer, considering returning to Higher Education and preparing your portfolio, or are just keen to learn a new skill – there is something for everyone.
“Anyone who takes part on the courses will have the opportunity to learn from our experienced tutors, working in some of the excellent studio spaces available in the Cardiff School of Art and Design, alongside likeminded learners.”
