Care home resident wins free Elvis Presley show

Bryn Ivor Lodge care home in Castleton, Cardiff was transformed into Graceland after one of their Resident, a superfan, won an online competition for a free Elvis Presley Tribute Show.

Lead Activities Co-ordinator, Anna Przybylska, entered the competition on behalf of one of her residents, Mr Peter Routledge and was thrilled to be chosen as one of the competition’s winners. Mr Victor Andrews, International award-winning Elvis Presley Tribute, also a best Welsh Champion, offered free shows throughout September. He was met with massive response from South Wales care homes and in the end decided to give the show to 10 lucky winners.

General Manager, Liliana Ungureanu, said: “Lots of our residents are big Elvis fans and love his music, but our resident Pete Routledge is, by far, the biggest fan!  His room is filled in with Elvis’ memorabilia. We cannot believe how lucky we are to win the show on Pete’s behalf and make one of his dreams come true.”

Miss Amanda Routledge, Pete’s daughter said: “My dad has always loved Elvis Presley. He and mum had travelled to Graceland many times. Listening to all Elvis’ old hits has brought back so many memories.  We’ve all had a brilliant time reminiscing about our dance hall days!”
