Food lovers visiting Wales’ premier Christmas lights trail will be treated to a festive feast of delights with a brand-new line-up of leading local street traders coming to the city centre event for 2024.

Christmas at Bute Park is a real destination for foodies, offering sumptuous street-food and bars so you can maximise the Christmas experience with Yuletide music classics playing as you tuck in. You won’t have to worry about greasy chips or dry burgers as some of the region’s finest street food vendors will ensure you get a seasonal sensation with some mouth-watering meals to try at the Christmas Village.

There is also a brilliant new addition – the Bute Park Tavern – a brand-new cosy heated Alpine wooded cabin where you can enjoy a hot or festive drink while you take in the twinkling surroundings.

This year organisers have worked with Tagathar Events to bring new local traders to the light trail this year, ensuring your appetite is as full as your festive spirit as you enjoy the trail. Food lovers can sample highly acclaimed gourmet burgers, fries, shakes and sides from Cardiff-based Smokin’ Griddle, Italian beef Chicago-style sandwiches from Packed Sandwiches and the flavours of Mexico using finest Welsh ingredients, all cooked over embers by Sin Nombre Tacos.

If Christmas doesn’t feel complete until you’ve enjoyed a Bratwurst, make sure to visit German Sausage to satisfy your cravings. For mac and cheese fans, Daddy Macs is the spot to hit, while pizza lovers can treat themselves to wood-fired delights from Alpine Pizza Co, all the way from the East Midlands.

Once you’ve devoured some savoury delights, sweeten your tooth with Welsh brownies from Chock Shop or homemade churros and chocolate from West Midlands-based Churros Hermanos. All allergen menus will be offered as well as Vegan options.

With more than 100,000 tickets sold in 2023, Christmas at Bute Park is just weeks away from returning to Cardiff city centre for its fourth annual outing. It kicks off on November 22nd through to December 31st, bringing more than five weeks of festive magic with it.

Visitors are in for a spectacular display at the award-winning event, with a re-imagined route of all new installations created by a selection of world-class artists and designers on offer in 2024.

Leading the new sights on show, Mycelium Network is a huge, fibre-optic network of festive fungi which leads visitors through a colour-changing carpet of glowing mushrooms. The piece is created by the UK’s leading fibre-optics artist, Stevie Thompson. Visitors will also be treated to Laser Garden, an all-encompassing green laser display and Crisial, designed as part of the Ignite Cymru scheme, which features a sunning array of dazzling and glowing crystal pipes.

Roxy Robinson, Creative Director at From the Fields, the team behind Christmas at Bute Park, said: “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with some of the top traders in the region, and it’s incredibly important for us to connect small, independent businesses with new audiences in Wales through their participation in Christmas at Bute Park. All we can say to those joining us this year is, come with an appetite!

“We are getting so excited for visitors to see the all-new array of world-class light installations as part of a reimagined route around one of the city’s most beloved landmarks. We’ve been speaking and listening to the wonderful audiences that continue to support us, and we are delighted to bring a fresh line up of magical sights, sounds and tastes for the 2024 event.”
