Another food waste recycler has been rewarded with £500 as a part of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Mash for Cash campaign.
Lyndsey Foyster from Draethen is the ninth winner of the food waste campaign and was presented with a cheque for £500 on her doorstep by the CCBC waste and recycling team, and they even brought Santa along for the occasion.
The Mash for Cash campaign was launched in March 2022 with an aim to increase the number of residents currently recycling their food waste.
Whilst the Local Authority hopes that the campaign will increase in food waste recycling participation, the prize money could help residents during the current cost of living crisis.
Ms Foyster said: “I have been recycling my food waste for as long as I can remember, I think it is so important and it really makes a positive impact on the environment. I had never heard of the Mash for Cash campaign prior to winning as I have always recycled anyway, but I am glad to see the local authority encouraging and rewarding those who do recycle.”
Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Waste, Leisure & Green spaces added: “Firstly, I would like to congratulate Ms Foyster on her winners and thank her for her participation in our food waste recycling agenda.
“It is great that we have been able to award, yet another food waste recycler for their efforts, and I am sure that the winnings will be much appreciated with Christmas just around the corner.”
The Mash for Cash winners will continue to be announced every month until March 2023.
