Coed Darcy community celebrates Christmas with festive event

Residents of Coed Darcy, Neath came together this week for a festive event to celebrate Christmas as a community.

The event took place on Tuesday afternoon (21 December) at Coed Darcy, where developer St. Modwen is transforming the former Llandarcy Oil Refinery into a new residential community with extensive green spaces, a school, community facilities and active travel networks.

The event was attended by over 150 members of the community who enjoyed the festivities  and brought along decorations to display on the Christmas tree at Coed Darcy.

Chilly residents were able to warm themselves with hot chocolate, while pizza cooked in a fire truck was a particular hit with local children.   Entertainment was provided by group Fizzi Duo, who gave a stellar performance including renditions of traditional Christmas carols.

The community at Coed Darcy has also come together to help those in need this Christmas through food donations to Neath Foodbank.  The food bank, supported by The Trussell Trust, will help those in need throughout the Christmas period.

The event and donation drive were organised by St. Modwen, the master developer bringing forward the Coed Darcy development.

Lucinda Clason-Thomas, Resident Portfolio Manager at St. Modwen said: “We were thrilled see the community spirit of Coed Darcy out in force as residents of all ages gathered to enjoy the festivities and celebrate Christmas together.

“Christmas, at its core, is all about giving back to those around you, so it was wonderful to see so many residents making donations to Neath Foodbank.  Everyone deserves to have a good Christmas and we look forward to holding many more events for our community in the future.”
