The Classroom, Cardiff and Vale College’s landmark restaurant at its City Centre Campus, has retained its AA College Rosette.
AA College Rosettes are awarded to restaurants that serve food prepared with care, understanding and skill, and achieve standards that stand out in the local area. The Classroom was awarded the first AA College Rosette in Wales in 2017.
Following a visit to the restaurant for a meal, the AA’s inspector noted that The Classroom was:
“Overall, a super setting to enjoy either lunch or dinner. It’s a clean and open space with stunning views over the city. Excellent natural light with the added appeal of views into the kitchen too.
“Pre-meal drinks can be taken in the small bar area, which has some excellent art which truly captures the characteristic of wine. Tables are well presented/spaced, providing a great learning platform for students.”
They also pointed to particular ‘wow factors’ such as the “stunning” views of Cardiff, well-presented and seasonal menus, sharp cooking, the “added theatre” of having an open-plan design with views into the kitchen and great mentoring for learners that allows them to develop and grow.
Cardiff and Vale College Deputy Principal Sharon James said: “For The Classroom to retain its AA College Rosette despite dealing with the challenges that have hit the hospitality sector because of COVID-19 is a fantastic achievement.
“This Rosette and gold accreditation is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our talented students and the industry professionals who are training them. Congratulations to them all.”
