Consultation launched over plans for apartments in Prestatyn

A consultation is being launched over plans to build apartments in Prestatyn which will be suitable for tenants with limited mobility.

Denbighshire County Council is consulting with residents before submitting an application for 15 apartments on Council-owned land at the Dell, Prestatyn.

Cllr Tony Thomas, lead member for Housing, Regulation and the Environment, said:

“We know from the waiting list for housing in Denbighshire that there is a need for apartments in Prestatyn which are suitable for older people.

“The Council owns this piece of land which we believe would make a suitable location for such a development because it has level access to the nearby shops and services in the town centre.

“Creating accommodation like this helps people stay in their own homes longer and is part of the commitment in our Corporate Plan to work with people and communities to provide more housing and build independence and resilience.”

If the planning application is approved five one/two bedroom apartments specifically designed for wheelchair users will be built on the ground floor and on the upper floors there will be a total of ten one/two bedroom apartments which will be accessible by lift and adaptable for tenants with limited mobility.

There will be a parking space for each apartment and three spaces for visitors.

Denbighshire Housing will be providing 170 additional Council homes throughout the county over the next four years and The Dell will be the first new build scheme to be delivered through this programme.

Residents can comment about the proposed development before August 8 viawww.denbighshirehousing.co.uk/thedell; Denbighshire Housing, PO Box 62, Ruthin LL15 9AZ or [email protected]
