Blackwood Miners Institute has received positive news to mark the start of the New Year as Caerphilly County borough council announces that the popular attraction is to remain open for the future.
In December 2024 it was confirmed that a successful application to the Arts Council for Wales meant that building was able to remain open for an extended period of time, to allow for an alternative delivery model to be considered.
Caerphilly county borough council has now confirmed that Blackwood Miners Institute will remain fully operational with more options being explored for the venue to be run in a different way.
Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Deputy Leader of Council said, “We’re pleased to confirm that the venue will remain open as we transition to a new model. We have listened to the feedback from the community and made every effort to consider all options for the venue. We will continue to work collaboratively with our independent advisory panel and the Arts Council for Wales to ensure that we can secure the best outcome for this historic cultural venue.”
“I’m sure the whole community will welcome this positive news, which demonstrates our commitment to securing a bright new future for Blackwood Miners Institute. We would urge the public to buy tickets at the venue to keep this venue thriving”.
A new events and activity calendar will now be developed beyond the original proposed closure date of 31st March and details will be announced in due course.
