Christmas has come early for a group of dedicated Llandudno volunteers thanks to funding from the Dŵr Cymru Community Fund.

The Llandudno Division of Wales’ leading first aid charity, St John Cymru, was awarded a grant of £500 in October and has enabled the group to equip their ambulance with a vacuum mattress – a specialist piece of equipment designed to immobilise patients with bone or spinal injuries.

The mattress will prove key in the delivering of first aid cover and treatment available to individuals at events across Conwy and the surrounding area.

Llandudno Divisional Officer in Charge, Stephen More, said: “We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dŵr Cymru for its support and for their generous donation.

“They have allowed us to ensure we can continue to provide the best possible care and first aid to those who encounter a neck, back or spinal injury.

“We’re proud to continue to invest heavily in new equipment, especially across the past few years, to further enable us to provide high quality medical care to people at events in and around Llandudno,” he added.

Volunteers at the Division are currently fundraising to purchase a brand new vehicle in 2019 which will allow them to continue to provide patients with high quality care.

The Dŵr Cymru Community Fund supports local communities where work has been carried out and aims to leave them in a better place once the work is completed.
