A CARING company is spreading Christmas cheer across North Wales after scooping an illustrious national industry award.
Colwyn Bay-based Enhanced Healthcare visited care homes across the region delivering festive arts and crafts sessions to hundreds of residents.
With more set to take place in the coming weeks, the recruitment agency – named Health and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year at the British Business Awards – has cemented its place among the leading and most caring names in the sector.
With more than 170 employees delivering temporary staffing solutions to a range of health and social care services, founder Chanel Williams says the commitment to their “people” is unwavering.
“To win such a prestigious award was amazing and is testament to the incredible dedication of our healthcare support workers and outstanding office team,” said Chanel, who launched the business in 2021, as she herself was seven months pregnant in hospital recovering from a life-threatening condition.
“Without their compassion and drive none of this would be possible, and for it to come as we are visiting our care home partners across the region and delivering festive workshops is fantastic, it’s given everyone an extra dose of Christmas cheer as they have proven very popular.”
Those words were echoed by Wendy Rogers from Glan Rhos Nursing Home in Brynsiencyn, Anglesey, who said: “Enhanced Healthcare ran a Christmas card making workshop for our patients. They were friendly, enthusiastic and very kind, taking the time to chat with everyone and making sure they all got the chance to make cards using the colours and patterns that they liked despite not everyone being able to make them themselves.
“They brought an amazing collection of materials and gave demonstrations whilst also taking an interest in each person. We are looking forward to seeing them again soon.”
Taking a collaborative approach to care was also well-received at Wynne Crest Care Home in Old Colwyn, whose residents enjoyed the yuletide activities.
Manager Angela Peacock said: “As well as getting together and having fun it was useful in helping with hand-eye coordination and socialisation. Everyone really enjoyed the afternoon, and it brought a smile to their faces.”
Brenda Hughes, Scheme Manager at ClwydAlyn’s Hafan Cefni extra care development on Anglesey, added: “The residents thoroughly enjoyed their session, it was a great event to kick off the Christmas festivities.”
Words echoed by the organisation’s Executive Director of Extra Care and Support, Ed Hughes: “We are appreciative of Enhanced Healthcare for supporting resident activity sessions across a number of our North Wales services. They provide agency support to ClwydAlyn and their commitment to giving back to communities was a key reason for choosing them as our preferred supplier.”
Enhanced Healthcare’s Director of Operations Natalie O’Brien says they plan to roll out these events every Christmas.
She revealed the focus now is on raising spirits in the run up to January before a new year recruitment drive.
“We are so heartened to hear such positive responses, which gives us an even further boost following the company’s success at the British Business Awards,” added Natalie.
“Our commitment is to people, which includes our amazing team, and that is why we will be looking to grow further in 2025.
“We are holding an open event for prospective care workers in January, with an exclusive £250 joining bonus for anyone who completes 250 hours of work in just three months.
“This is just one of the offers and incentives to join Enhanced Healthcare, a forward-thinking, next generation staffing provider which takes the word ‘care’ to a whole new level.”
