As Euro 2020 approaches, football fans all across the continent have been keeping an eye out for each nation’s squad announcement. Whether that’s due to excitement for the tournament, planning their fantasy team, looking for who to back in the top scorer Euro 2020 odds or just scouring the 26-man selections for who they think could make an overall difference this year.
To help predict this year’s star performers, bookmaker Casumo have run a supercomputer simulation of the competition and we’re going to look at it’s findings over a series of articles.
We’ve already discovered that Gianluigi Donnarumma, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Raphaël Varane, Benjamin Pavard and José Gayà will make up the defence. So, let’s take a look at the midfielders that will join them in the Team of the Tournament.
Nicolò Barella – Italy
Nicolò Barella will be the third Italian to feature in the Euro 2020 Dream Team. The 24-year-old midfielder was an integral part in Inter Milan winning their first Serie A title in 10 years and he’ll be just as important for Italy as Roberto Mancini’s in-form side make it to the final.
Koke – Spain
Having won the La Liga title with Atlético Madrid, Koke is another midfielder riding the crest of a wave heading into the Euros and he’s tipped to have a fantastic competition. Expect pin-point passes, assists and even the odd goal from the 29-year-old.
Raheem Sterling – England
Raheem Sterling has been a stalwart in the England side for years now and the 26-year-old Manchester City player is tipped to be one of the Three Lions’ star performers this year. Sterling failed to score at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. However, the supercomputer has predicted him to find the net three times this summer.
