Popular winter attraction, Cardiff Winter Wonderland, will open at City Hall Lawns from 8th November 2019, unveiling its brand-new Alpine Ice Trail for the first time. The Trail will be an open-air ice-skating experience running 250m long, making it amongst one of the longest Ice Trails in Europe and guaranteed to be the only one found in the UK this winter.
Visitors can still expect its usual ice rink facility -which allows for 300 visitors on the ice during each skating session- but the Trail will allow visitors to explore the majority of the site without taking their skates off…quite literally.
The Alpine Ice Trail isn’t the only new feature you can expect at this year’s Cardiff Winter Wonderland. Utilising Gorsedd Gardens, the event will have its own Christmas tree on display -decorated by local primary school, Coed Glas. The Big Wheel will also be a new addition to the event this year, with accessible carriages for wheelchair users, as well as returning favourites such as the double-storey ‘Sur La Piste’ bar and live-entertainment area.
Last year, Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland -run by event specialists Sayers Events and 11th Hour- made headlines as they brought the Drop Tower to the city. Standing 90M from the ground, it stood taller than any building in Cardiff and sent adrenaline soaring as it dangled visitors in the air before plummeting itself towards the ground. This year, the Alpine Ice Trail is expected to make headlines for the event partners again, as this unique skating facility comes to the UK for the very first time. Looking for something similar not in Cardiff? Your nearest location would be in Vienna.
Discussing the Alpine Ice Trail, Jason Venables from 11th Hour commented;
“We couldn’t be more excited to announce our Alpine Ice Trail -it’s something both 11th Hour and Sayers have been researching together since our last Winter Wonderland event, and it’s definitely something we know is really going to ‘wow’ our guests this year. Both our ice rink and Ice Trail are accessible for all and we look forward to welcoming everyone on site with us for 2019. We have lots of exciting things happening over the next few months, so remember to keep up to date with the news across our social media channels.”
The (coldest) tickets in town are now on sale for all ice-skating sessions between 8th November 2019-5th January 2020. Get them here before it’s too late: http://cardiffswinterwonderland.com/
