The family of a man who died when the motorcycle he was travelling on was in collision with a blue Dacia Sandero in Porth on 6th May, 2020, have paid tribute to him.

Mike Parsons, 61, was from Rhydyfelin – they said:  “Tragically, on the 6th May we lost Mike in a motorcycle accident and our son Joe was critically injured.

“Mike was a lifelong motorcyclist from the age of 16 who loved to ride his bike daily. It was his passion and his life.

“He was a devoted husband to Clare, loving father to Joe and Jed, grandfather to Tahlia, brother, uncle, son in law, brother in law and loved by all that knew him.

“Mike will be sorely missed by his family and friends and throughout his wide range of friends in the biking community. He was a proud member of the Valley Commandos motorcycle club Wales Abertaff.

“Mike you were a true gentleman forever in our hearts and never forgotten until we meet again. RIDE FREE.”

Mike’s son, Joe, a pillion passenger on the motorcycle at the time of the incident remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The incident occurred at Trebanog Road’s junction with Brocks Terrace and Rhigwarn Road at approximately 6am.

Officers are continuing their appeal for anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have noticed the manner of driving of either vehicle involved in the moments before the collision, to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Wales Police serious collision investigation unit on 101 quoting *154694.
