Family raises over £4,000 for charity in memory of daughter

Serah and Jamie Barnes, from Tumble, have raised £4,284 for Hywel Dda Health Charities in loving memory of their daughter, Molly.

In January 2019, Serah and Jamie’s daughter Molly was sadly stillborn. Serah and Jamie received incredible care by the Bereavement Midwifery team at Glangwilli Hospital during this difficult time. The team provided constant, around-the-clock care, even after their shifts ended.

Over the past three years, Serah and Jamie have been raising funds for the Bereavement Midwifery team through a range of activities such as a 24-hour darts marathon.

Serah said: “I’ve set up a Molly’s Memory charity fund to say a massive thank you to all the bereavement midwifery team. I can’t thank them enough. As Molly’s mother, I wanted to give back and to keep her memory alive.

“The only thing that keeps me going throughout this heartache is this fundraising. I hope the Bereavement Midwifery team can purchase more equipment so it can help other families that sadly go through the awful, devastating loss like we did as a family.

“I would also like to thank everyone that has helped me raise the £4284.00 in the last three years, your help and support has been amazing and overwhelming.”

Heulwen Harden, Bereavement Lead Midwife, said: “We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the generous donation in commemoration of your beautiful daughter, Molly. Your kindness has been shared across the Maternity Service with all staff as recognition and appreciation of your support as Molly’s mother and father.

“Your donation will help provide further bereavement support and resources for families.”
