A festive fun day to celebrate the wide range of community services being delivered at St Mellons Hub will be held next week.
The free community fun day, including a fair, food stalls, live music, community stalls, Christmas grotto and mad science workshop will be held to mark the official launch of the hub on Wednesday, December 19 from 10am – 5pm.
Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Cllr Lynda Thorne, said:
“Community fun days at our hubs are always successful events with plenty to see and do. They are also fantastic opportunities for us to showcase the wide range of services available at the hub and in the local community.
“St Mellons hub is a real asset for this part of the city, with an impressive range of facilities and thanks to the recent investment in the facility, I’m delighted that we are able to deliver even more services for people in the area. I hope people will come along to join us next Wednesday.”
The new Hub opened earlier this year after being refurbished and extended to deliver the latest one-stop-shop facility in the Council’s successful community hub programme. The £3million project benefited from a grant under the Welsh Government’s Regeneration Capital Programme.
Now open for six days a week, the bright and modern hub includes extended library provision, extensive IT facilities, a community café and kitchen, advice and interview rooms, a youth den, child-care provision, multi-use rooms and a large community hall and changing rooms.
Customers can accesshousing, benefit and advice services at the hub as well as free internet and Wi-Fi access, free phones to contact Council and other services and Into Work Advice and training, as well as a full programme of community activities.
