Four people have been charged in connection with the murder of Daniel Rae.

Daniel, 30, died in a property on Princess Street, Treforest, on the evening of Sunday, December 17.

Following an investigation led by the South Wales Police Major Crime Investigation Team, Kieran Ashton Carter, 22, from Birmingham, and two 17-year-old males from Pontypridd, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with murder.

Grace Ellen Dresser, 21, from Treforest, has been charged with assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.

All four are remanded in custody to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

Daniel’s family, who continue to be updated and supported by family liaison officers, has released the following statement:

“Daniel, our son, brother, and loving father has been taken away from us far too soon and we are truly devastated.

“He had a huge, and the warmest, heart, having such a caring, funny, and loving personality. He loved his family and friends, always putting them first.

“We will miss you unconditionally and we were so blessed to have you in our lives, we always treasure the memories we made together.

“We will always love you, and we need time to grieve and get over the shock of losing Daniel in this horrible way.”

A 33-year-old man and 36-year-old woman, both from Glynchoch, who were also arrested as part of the investigation are released on bail pending further enquiries.

Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to come forward.
